Cocktail Recipes with Gin and Vodka

Lime Juice can overwhelm good Gin in certain cocktails. Sometimes bitters can round out the sharp flavors of lime but for me I’ve found a better way… BG Reynolds Lime Cordial. The cordial is the combination of sugar syrup and Lime juice that ends up having just the right balance. This recipe is a Riff on an Old Fashioned with all the flavor of the Gimlet but more spirits forward in flavor. Feel free to substitute Lime Bitters from other makers like Dashfire or Scrappy’s as they all work… This recipe is pretty good with Amargo Chuncho Bitters as well.
Absinthia Vermut is the Green Fairy of the Bay Area and has been making and educating consumers about pleasures of Absinthe for several decades. She’s a friend and I am a big fan of her Organic Absinthe in all its forms. It doesn’t mater whether it’s used as a rinse, an accent or when it is the major ingredient in a cocktail. Absinthe is the bomb and works with a wide range of spirits. A teaspoon is 1/8 to 1/6 of an ounce depending on the tool you are using. I’d say even a 1/4 oz. would be quite nice in this recipe.
I buy fresh pineapples periodically… When I slice the husk off prior to coring and slicing up the good parts I will hand squeeze the the parts I have cut off and always get enough fresh juice to make one or two cocktails. It is so much better than Dole in a can and the Bermuda Hundred is one of the better Gin and fruit juice cocktails…
This is a very good recipe!
Gran Classico is a touch drier than Campari and not quite as sweet.
The Sawyer, in addition to the Bermuda Hundred is one of my 2 favorite Gin Cocktails that contain a fair amount of Fruit Juice. The combination of Bitters balance out the Citrus. It works with the Holy Trinity but is also works well in the Dashfire Riff.
Bar Tips Egg Whites… Egg Whites can do wonderful things for a cocktail… trust me your wife or husband will love it when you hand them a Lion’s Tail, Aruba, Trinidad or Gin Fizz. They are beautiful to look at and add a layer of not so much flavor but mouthfeel that is quite pleasant.
